Travel has always been a big part of my life. My family moved five times before I was seven and I had visited four different countries before I was twelve. When I turned 21, I went to visit my brother in Tokyo, Japan for a couple of weeks and ended up staying for two and a half years! It was in Japan that I discovered English language teaching. At the time I was amazed at the value the Japanese put in my natural ability to speak English. What a currency to have for someone who loves to travel!
Having taught a couple of years in Japan, I returned to Australia and developed, marketed and then sold an Edu-Tour directed at Japanese students which still operates in Cairns today. In 2002, I went for a holiday to Vietnam and fell madly in love with the country, its culture and the people. When I came back to Australia, I put all my belongings in storage and returned to Vietnam to teach; I stayed there for 3 years and loved every minute of it.
I have also worked in Hospitality, I.T. and Sales, but I love teaching the most. I find it to be an amazingly rewarding, exciting and most importantly FUN career. Having worked both in Australia and overseas I have now taken the next step in my career and have the opportunity to pass on my knowledge and experiences to enthusiastic teachers in training and look forward to being a part of their overseas experience.
