Course Details
The Teach
International Certificate IV in Teaching
English to Speakers of Other Languages
(TESOL) 30874QLD
consists of all the outcomes and competencies
from the compulsory units in the Certificate
III in TESOL.
The Certificate IV course has a more in-depth study of skills and knowledge in the areas of:
- Advanced Grammar skills for English Language Teaching
- Theories of Language and Culture
- Second Language Acquisition Theory
- English Language Teaching Methodology
The Certificate IV in TESOL also requires the completion of the remaining four of the six online ‘elective’ units not already completed. Furthermore, classroom observation and six hours of assessed practice teaching to real students will be required unless this component is fulfilled by way of Recognition of Prior Learning. For example, if participants exit at the Certificate III level and teach overseas for a longer period of time, and have sound evidence of their success in doing so, they can apply for credit for this component of the Certificate IV in TESOL course.
The additional delivery of unit outcomes and competencies packaged for the Certificate IV in TESOL represents a further duration of 170 hours of study (310 in total).
